About NewTech

NewTech Drilling Products, LLC, was formed in 2001 by founders Ken Curry and Mark Jones to provide advanced technology drilling products to the petroleum industry. NewTech offers design, engineering, manufacturing and repair services for a wide variety of drilling products.

NewTech has developed its own proprietary engineering, design and manufacturing systems and processes. This allows us to design and manufacture drilling products with short lead times and at substantial cost savings compared to larger, less focused companies.

NewTech has a wide variety of product offerings. Its primary product line is matrix and steel body PDC bits for oil and gas drilling. These state-of-the-art bits are comparable to the drilling bit offerings of the largest oilfield service companies. NewTech is extremely responsive in its ability to provide new designs based on changing requirements from the field and the continuous need for improvements in drilling efficiency.

NewTech also has a general purpose product line of steel body PDC bits that can be used for shallow oil and gas, mining, construction, fiber optic, geothermal and water well drilling. These bits have proven to be extremely cost effective compared to comparable roller cone bits.

NewTech has just released its first proprietary, patent pending product line. Bits with carbide pick cutters have been offered by other manufacturers for many years. NewTech is the first company to take a full engineering based approach to understanding the drilling dynamics of this product and applying that to the design. Utilizing its extensive background in PDC drill bit design, NewTech was able to apply advanced engineering and design principles to advance the drilling efficiency and life of these carbide pick bits.

This new line of carbide pick bits has achieved new levels of performance in field tests drilling blast holes for the open bed coal mines in the Powder River Basin. Penetration rates up to 3,000 feet per hour have been recorded and bit life has exceeded 300,000 feet. Based on the exceptional performance of these bits in the challenging and varying drilling conditions our tests have been conducted in, we expect this product line to be very successful in all shallow drilling applications.
